CROW CREEK MISSION TRIP 2008

Our Mission Trip to the Crow Creek Indian Reservation in Ft. Thompson S.D. in June was a wonderful time of learning new skills. Twelve people said “yes” to God’s call to mission. We worked on a variety of projects this year in small groups each day. Some of our projects included: installing screening on windows and painting, tiling and cleaning a kitchen for one family. Another group built a deck and cut down a tree for an older woman and her granddaughter. One group remodeled a bathroom for a family.  One group installed wall board and tongue and groove ceiling materials at a Children's Cultural Center. One group helped set-up a thrift store by sorting clothing and house-wares. In the evenings, we had speakers of Native American culture and went to a Children's Pow-Wow. We had a Native American meal. We enjoyed working with our project manager, again this year and learning more about his life and struggles. We have enjoyed our journey into the Native American Culture.
We worked on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesday, our day off, we went to Lake Oahe, near Pierre. We spent the day on a pontoon boat enjoying the water, food and fellowship.
